Toronto Star Centre opening reception

File contains photographs of the opening of the Toronto Star Centre in the Rogers Communication Centre. Classrooms 183, 185, 187 are named the Toronto Star rooms. Photographs are of reception and of the rooms with people using the computers.

Twenty-Five Year Club, 2004

File contains photographs of the reception inducting 16 new members into Ryerson's 25 year club. Included are group photographs of the inductees, one of which was published in the Jan/Feb. 2005 edition of the FORUM.

George Wong

File contains head shots of entrepreneur George Wong. He received an Honourary Doctorate from Ryerson in Spring 2001. The photograph was published in the programme created for the ceremonies.

Kathryn Woodcock

File contains photographs of Ryerson School of Occupational and Public Health professor Dr. Kathryn Woodcock. One of the photographs (#16) was published in the November/December 2004 edition of the FORUM.

Missoni Lecture

File contains photographs of a lecture given at Ryerson by Vittorio Missoni, head of the Italy fashion house Missoni. Missoni also taught a master class at Ryerson during Fashion Week.

Fashion - "Experience Thailand" charette

File contains photographs of Fashion's "Experience Thailand" charette. The HBC (Hudson Bay Company) was running a storewide Thailand promotion. Exclusive to Ryerson, a charette sketch competition was held through the Fashion Dept. - the winner received 2 tickets to Thailand. The silks were provided by the Royal Family of Thailand.

File contains 2 copies of the 2006 editions of the newsletter. Newsletter went digital - hard copies created.
Third copy is in folder in open stacks in reading room.

Homecoming 2000

Homecoming 2000 was held October 28. File broken into two parts. First part includes 4 invitation/programme of events, a newspaper article from the Toronto Star about Ryerson's first graduating class in 1950, and Archives sign in ledger from the Archives open house. The second part is a planning file for Homecoming/Open House 2000.

Homecoming 2005

Homecoming 2005 was held Friday September 23 and Saturday September 24. File contains save the date mailings, invitations to the classes of 1955, 1980, 1995, 2000, 2004, and 2005, correspondence, a brochure for Wordstock, and two copies of the class of 1955 memory book.

Homecoming 2006 was held Friday October 13 and Saturday October 14. File contains save the date mailings, invitations to the classes of 1956, 1981, 1996, 2001, and 2006, correspondence, a brochure for Wordstock, posters, and two copies of the class of 1956 memory book.

Alumni Weekend 2010

Alumni Weekend 2010 was held Thursday September 30 - Saturday October 2. File contains mailings, 2 copies of "25 reasons to say you're from Ryerson", 2 copies of the class of 1960 memory book, and an invitation and a programme for the Ryerson Dinner held Saturday October 2 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Other items from this year included a lanyard and a tote bag given to alumni, as well as 15 lapel pins. The lapel pins have an etched view of the clock tower on Kerr Hall over top of the words "Alumni" with the Ryerson University logo underneath. There are examples of the generic pin as well as ones for the 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, and 60th anniversaries. The 50th anniversary pin is gold and the 60th anniversary pin has a "diamond" in it.

Alumni Weekend 2011 was held Saturday September 24. File contains 2 copies of the class of 1961 memory book, mailings, and 3 copies of the programme for the Ryerson Dinner at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. This was the last year for the memory book.

Alumni Weekend 2015

A series of photographic images in the form of a newsletter documenting Alumni Weekend 2015; included are registration, barbeque lunch, the SLC building, and Archives and Special Collections. File also contains promotional materials including pamphlets, booklets, programs, and posters.

File contains installation invitations, programs, program/calendar of events, curriculum vitae, press kit, RSVP list, name badges, cassette recordings (Installation of Pres. Lajeunesse CA 12-9 and "New Initiatives Forum", CA 12-11/12, received through various sources.

December 6th Memorial Ceremony

A group of Ryerson staff, faculty and students memorializing December 6th in the Quad. A plaque accompanying the memorial sculpture was unveiled to remember the 14 women who were murdered at Montreal's Ecole Polytechnique on this date in 1989.

Megacity - public forum

A panel discussion regarding the megacity debate lead by then, Mayor Barbara Hall. Welcoming remarks was made by Claude Lajeunesse which took place in the Commons on Janurary 23, 1997. 5;30-7:00 pm (free admission). Speakers included Ursula Franklin, Mitchell Kosny and Peter Russell, the moderator ; Andrew Coyne. A press release was issued January 20, 1997 and flyer entitled "Megacity : what are the issues?". A page from Forum, Februray 7, 1997 "Megacity forum draws crowd of 300".

Degree BASc ceremony at Academic Council

Lisa Braverman, 91, grad in Nutrition, Consumer and Family Studies was the first grad to receive a Bachelor of Applied Science degree (in that discipline) from President Claude Lajeunesse in a special ceremony. From the Forum, March 21, 1997 page 6 there is photograph of Claude Lajuenesse and Lisa Braveman holding the degree in a special ceremony.

Consumer Info web site - launch

To launch the website Claude Lajuenesse and then Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations, and others attend the kickoff of this new website. This was a joint venture between the Consumers Council of Canada, CIBC and the Consumers Association of Canada. A copy of the January 1997 issue of Canadian Insurance and Consumer Quarterly is added to the folder.

Greg Moore - lecture

Sam The Record Man - ROSOTF donation

Sam Sniderman, Claude Lajuenesse and Bruce Hurley meet in the store of Sam the Record Man to launch the Ryerson Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund (ROSOTF). Investment income from the ROSOTF will be used to provide financial assistance to Ryerson student in financial need. From the Forum, February 28, 1997 pg.10 "Sam (the ROSOTF Man) makes some sweet music for student aid".
