Douglas Walker reception

File contains photographs of the reception held at Ryerson for Douglas Walker, a 1981 graduate of Ryerson's Business program. His company Alias/Wavefront won an Oscar for scientific and technical achievement. A photograph of Douglas Walker holding the statuette was published in the July 2003 edition of the FORUM.

File contains photographs of Dr. Ingrid Bryan, a former professor in the Department of Economics. Photographs taken at two different times, the earlier photographs are undated.

Dr. Judith Bernhard

File contains head shots of Dr. Judith Bernhard of Ryerson's School of Early Childhood Education. The shots come from two separate sessions, both in 1995.

Dr. Robert A. Guerriere scholarship

File contains photographs taken at first scholarship award presentation of the Dr. Robert A. Guerriere scholarship. Scholarship awarded to Ryerson Applied Chemistry and Biology graduate Oleh Tanchak. Included in the photographs is the wife of the late Dr. Guerriere, Geraldine Guerriere. Photograph from file featured in the July 2001 edition of the FORUM.
Dr. Robert Guerriere was a faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering before passing away in 2001. Scholarship funds provided by friends and family of Dr. Guerriere. Scholarship to be awarded annually to a Ryerson graduate pursuing post-graduate studies.

Dundas Square demolition

File contains photographs taken at the official ceremony marking the start of demolition of existing buildings on the south-east and north-east corners of Yonge and Dundas. Buildings demolished for creation of a public square (Yonge-Dundas Square) on the south-east side and a shopping centre/movie theatre building on the north-east side. Included in the pictures are then Ryerson president Claude Lajeunesse and then Toronto City councillor Kyle Rae. Photo from this file published in the April 26 1999 edition of the FORUM.

Eaton donation

File contains photographs taken during the signing and reception for John Craig and Sally Horsfall Eaton's $1.5 million donation to Ryerson. Donation culminated in the naming of the Sally Horsfall Eaton Centre for Studies in Community Health - an addition added to the existing Palin Hall located on Gerrard Street. Included in the pictures are then Ryerson Chancellor John Craig Eaton, Sally Horsfall Eaton, then president Claude Lajeunesse, Ron Besse, V.P. University Advancement Adam Kahan, then V.P. Administration and Finance Linda Grayson, and then dean of Community Services Judith Sandys. One image published in the October 2001 edition of the FORUM.

Eero Saarinen architecture exhibit

File contains photographs of the Eero Saarinen exhibit "Between Earth and Sky" that was held in conjunction with the Consulate of Finland. Exhibit held in the staff lounge in the Podium building.

Eggy the Ram

File contains photographs of Eggy the Ram, Ryerson's live mascot. Photographs are from several different events between 1982 and 1992. The first set are photographs of Howard Kerr and Eggy at a ceremony held February 4, 1982 at Oakham House when the heads of Eggy's 1, 2, and 3 were given to Oakham House for display. The second set is of Eggy at convocation in the 1980s. The rest are from various convocations in the early 1990s. Included is a photograph of former Ryerson Archivist Jim Peters holding the RAM mace he carved posing beside Eggy.

Electrical and Computer Engineering open house

File contains photographs taken during the annual Electrical and Computer Engineering open house. The open house allows students to display their final year capstone projects. One image was published in the May 2001 edition of the FORUM.

People pictured are Electrical and Computer engineering graduate students Frank Chen and Michael Ma, and post-graduate fellow Samuel Wei. Engineering and Applied Science

File contains photographs relating to Applied Science and Engineering at Ryerson. Included are photographs of Ike Morgulis leading a tour through Eric Palin Hall and Dean of Technology William White with Science and Technology Librarian Phelan in front of the library's 10th floor display on the National Standards System. Also in the file are two photographs of Joaquin Whelan and Marco Whelan, University of Detroit Mercy students who studied at Ryerson through the North American Design Institute exchange program. A photograph of exchange students was published on the front page of the FORUM magazine on March 9, 1998.

Entrepreneur alumni night - Allan Slaight

File contains photographs taken at entreneur alumni night. Speaker was Allan Slaight of Slaight Communications. Mr. Slaight donated money to Ryerson University to support the Start Me Up Ryerson student business plan competition at the Ted Rogers School of Management.

Ernie certificate presentation

File contains photographs taken during the presentation of a certificate to Ronald Alexander (aka Ernie the hot dog man). Not clear as to what Ernie is being presented the certificate for, but Ryerson President Sheldon Levy and VP University Advancement Adam Kahan are in the pictures with Ernie. Ernie sold hot dogs on the Ryerson campus for 25 years and gave $25 000 dollars to Ryerson to fund a bursary for students. He retired in 2006. Ernie died in 2008 at the age of 80. There are also 3 pictures that appear to be unrelated - feature a reception of some sort and a man with violins in the background.

Errol Aspevig

File contains head shots of Errol Aspevig. Errol Aspevig was at Ryerson for over 30 years. During his time at Ryerson he was the Dean of Arts, and he also served as the Provost and Vice Presiden Academic.

Eugen Bannerman

File contains head shots of Eugen Bannerman, a former professor in Ryerson's Department of Psychology. Eugen Bannerman also performed weddings and funerals for Ryerson faculty. He served as Ryerson's Bedel at convocation until his retirement.

Eugen Bannerman and Adrian Pecknold

File contains portraits of Eugen Bannerman and Adrian Pecknold. Eugen Bannerman is a former professor in Ryerson's Department of Psychology and he served as Ryerson's Bedel at convocation until his retirement. Adrian Pecknold was a Canadian mime , director and author. He taught in Ryerson's Theatre School in the 1980s and 1990s.

File contains photographs of Brian Way, a noted theatre director who taught at Ryerson's Theatre School. Three of the photographs have him posing with Eugen Bannerman, Ryerson psychology professor.

Eugene Polistuk presentation

File contains photographs of Celestica chairman and CEO Eugene Polistuk. Also included in the photographs are Claude Lajeunesse and various images of the presentation. Polistuk received an honourary doctorate in engineering from Ryerson in 2001.

They include the student parade (1991-2004) and picnic (1991), Women in Engineering (Aug. 2002), Campus tours (2004), Hospitality and Tourism events (ca. 2000), Alumni Services (ca. 1985) and Graphic Arts Management job fair (2000).

Exchange students from USA

2 students of the University of Detroit Mercy are studying at Ryerson, through the North American Design Institute exchange program, an offshoot of the North America Free Trade Agreement. "Free trade spawns student exchange", from Forum, March 9, 1998.

FORUM newsletter, 1994-2009

Over the years, the FORUM newsletter was published weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-weekly, and, finally only six issues per year. Topics included Ryerson news, staffing updates, and staff and alumni notices. The publishing schedule was changed in 2006 to a calendar year from the academic year. The October 2005 issue was the last hard copy and a solely digital format was was released with the next print in 2006. Tthe FORUM was discontinued in 2009 and replaced with a new newsletter, Ryerson Today, on October 19, 2009 distributed via email notification and a link to the webpage. This series contains volumes 20 - 30 and then newsletters from 2006-2008.

Fairchild Media Group donation and tour

File contains photographs taken during the tour and donation announcement by Fairchild Media Group. They donated $30 000 to create the Fairchild Public Affairs Award to benefit RTA students who demonstrate an awareness and understanding of ethnic, social or political issues. Two scholarships of $3000 each are to be awarded annually. Pictured are RTA professor Jerry Good; then acting RTA chair Robert Gardner; Fairchild Radio Station manager Gary Nobody; and Fairhchild chief operating officer Calvin Wong. One picture was published in the February 2001 edition of the FORUM.

Fashion - "Experience Thailand" charette

File contains photographs of Fashion's "Experience Thailand" charette. The HBC (Hudson Bay Company) was running a storewide Thailand promotion. Exclusive to Ryerson, a charette sketch competition was held through the Fashion Dept. - the winner received 2 tickets to Thailand. The silks were provided by the Royal Family of Thailand.

Fashion Alumni

File contains two photographs. One of the of the photographs shows a model in a Brian Bailey (Fashion '83) fashion show. The second photograph is of Susan Langdon (Fashion '77), Lida Baday (Fashion '79), David Dixon (Fashion '93), and Ewa Majak (Fashion '96) posing with their 1996 City of Toronto Awards for Excellence in Fashion Design.
