Toque Tuesday materials

As part of the Canadian Federation of Students' cross- Canada event "Raising the Roof: Solutions for Canada's Homeless" program, February 2nd, 1999 was designated as 'Toque Tuesday' at Ryerson. Ryerson students sold toques on the streets and in subway stations to raise money for this program. This has become an annual event during the month of February.
Included in the file are posters advertising the initiative and 2 toques - one black and one blue.

Student Campus Centre -Time Capsule Project

A file documenting the Student Campus Centre "Time Capsule" project. The file consists of thefollowing:

RG 791.03.01.01 One cassette recording of a workshop held at Ryerson on May 18th with keynote speaker Dr. John Daniel, Academic Vice-President of Athabaska University, Edmonton. Tape is of Dr. Daniel's luncheon address.

Ryerson Athletic Centre construction videocassette

A 60-minute colour video, with commentary, documenting the on-going construction of the athletics centre from July 1986 to August 1987. The Athletics Director, Bob Fullerton, appears in the new facility at approximately the 52:35 segment of the tape.

Fonds contains materials relating to all aspects of the Hospitality program at Ryerson. There are materials from the beginning of the program in 1951 and every decade since its inception but the majority of the materials date from 1970s and 1980s. Event photographs

A file of photographs taken during the Ryer's Inn 1981 Klondike Daze event. Photographs include the valet, dancing girls and band, food tables, entertainers, black jack tables, an aerial shot of the dining area, and one of the students working the event.

Visitors, events, and conventions

File contains photographs from the 1973 Hospitality Update student convention; visitor's from Iran and the University of Akron, November 1969; a Tourism seminar held November 30, 1972; HRIA receiving its Chapter Charter from the Hotel Sales Management Association, and a HRIA booth set up at an unidentified event.

Hospitality faculty and staff

File contains black and white photographs of faculty and staff from Hospitality. Included are images of Dave Darker, David Worton, George Davidson, George Slavinski, Hrayr Berberoglu, Collin Swindlehurst, and others.

Annual Reports

File contains 2 reports. One is a form for submitting report to be added to Ryerson's Annual Report for 1972-1973. The second is a more indepth 2 year report on the establishment and running of the Hotel School in Trinidad.

Board of Directors meetings

File contains meeting minutes from the Board of Directors, Hotel Training School in Trinidad and Tobago. The early meetings were held in Port of Spain and the later ones in the Hotel School in Chaguaramas.

C. I. D. A. - general

Canadian International Development Agency (C. I. D. A.) materials. Included is information related to the Hotel School, and two published items: "No Room for Routine" and "The Future Role of DAC" both by C. I. D. A. president Paul Gerin-Lajoie.
