File contains a stereoscopic viewer and set of Kromogram stereoscopic images. A Kromogram was produced by a special camera and viewed through a Kromoscop.
The Kromskop is a stereoscopic viewer which combined the images from six black and white transparencies through colour filters to create a stereoscopic colour image. The six black and white transparencies were connected together in such a way that they could be 'draped' over the viewer. The set of six transparencies is called a Kromogrram.
To produce a Kromogram, the special camera took three pairs of images of a given object (an exposure time of a minute was required, which made it impractical for portrait work). It used a combination of mirrors, prisms and colour filters. The eventual positive was cut into three and mounted in a folded cardboard frame to form the Kromogram.
The three pairs of transparencies were black and white. However they differed in detail because they showed different features of the subject as transmitted through the particular colour filter.
The label on the box reads: "The Photochromoscope Syndicate, Limited, / 121, Shaftesbury Avenue, London W.C." The Syndicate, a British company, was established by Ives in 1898.
Kromogram consists of three black and white negatives made of one subject and there are four sets of three. One set focuses on botanical gardens/flowers, another on a vase of flowers, one on a Yorkshire farm and the last on two people sitting and reading.

Printed slide depicts four boys using common household items as musical instruments including a barrel as a drum, garbage can lids as cymbals, a water can as a horn and a stick for the conductor. Boys are wearing hats with feathers, stockings, pants, shirts, shoes and boots of an array of colours and patterns.

Item is a photo album with a blue binding and a mostly blue and red cover. Item contains images of a number of different pavilions at Expo '67 for various countries and organizations, artworks, ceremonies and activities, and provides a short write up in French and English on each.

Items are dry plate negatives covering a wide variety of focuses, including group pictures, horses, buildings and railways

Handwritten in ink on wood frame "Amazon" the rest of the sticker has come off. Image is of an equestrian statue outside a building with columns. The statue is of a naked woman, holding a spear, sitting on a horse rearing up, with a lion latched to its throat. Cannot figure out which museum it's in front of in Berlin, Germany. Please note that the wood frame is a thicker cut than the others, and not a straight cut.

There's mountains around him, trees towering over him. The sky is blue with some clouds. Date based on research that shows Edward Van Altena's studio was active during 1890s-1910s. This series part of Life Model Slides. "The most popular slides in Victorian times were 'life model slides', which depicted popular sentimental stories of the day.The slides were produced by arranging actors in costume in front of a painted back drop. Stage props were placed in front of the actors and the scenes from the story were photographed. The slides were often hand tinted with colour and sold in boxes, along with a text to be used as a reading.In particular the temperance movement and political speakers used slides to convert a mass audience." In the BRC there's the numbers 99-218 printed on slide itself. More research shows that Joseph Hawkes worked in New York City and Brooklyn in the late 19th century, and he hand coloured slides. "He worked with the Brooklyn Museum's curator of fine arts, William Henry Goodyear, to reproduce images of archaeological and architectural sites in Europe as well as images of the Paris Exposition."
