Beniamino Gigli

Item is a publicity portrait of Beniamino Gigli, an Italian operatic singer who sang for many Italian opera companies and debuted for the Metropolitan Opera in 1920. He is shown in profile, with one foot resting upon a chair. Black ink inscription on surface of photograph reads, 'Bgigli Montreal 1925'

Lantern slide, glass slide. Handpainted over B&W slide. No wood frame. Black frame with gold letters "Edward Van Altena 71-79W. 45th St., N.Y.C." Slide is numbered 7 in the series. Black paper around glass edges. Heavily painted. Seven people are standing inside a house, the room has a fireplace, bed, table with a staircase leading up. An older woman sits on the stairs, and the rest are standing. The man holding the suitcase, from earlier slides, is now inside with the others.

The Lark at the Longacre Theatre

Item consists of a Playbill program for the production of the Jean Anouilh play The Lark at the Longacre Theatre. The play starred Julie Harris, Christopher Plummer, and Boris Karloff. Newspaper photographs of the production are tipped into the program throughout.
