File contains reproductions of correspondence between John G. Palmer and members of Eastman Kodak Company, including George Eastman. Most of the correspondence pertains to the purchase and rental of property in Toronto, but some pertains to bank balances and transfers, annual general meetings, and other miscellaneous topics. Palmer was the treasurer of Canadian Kodak Co. Ltd., becoming the company's first president in 1918.

File consists of: a directory to Kodak facilites, including telephone, conference room, and department listings; a listing of Ontario customers with image centres. sorted by city; and notes and correspondence from a presentation by the Black Creek Business Corridor Intermunicipal Task Force.

File includes three small manuscript notebooks detailing the weekly hours worked by employees at Kodak Heights between March 2, 1916 and February 1, 1927. One notebook records the activities of employees in the basement stock room of building #5; the other two notebooks record the activities of "millwrights & painters, etc."

File consists of two clothbound manuscript notebooks containing suggestions put forward by employees of Canadian Kodak Co., Ltd. between 1915 and 1959. Information recorded includes name, date, description of suggestion, date of adoption where relevant, and compensation awarded for adopted suggestions.

File includes documents pertaining to the publication of Kodak Canada's employee benefits brochures from 1990 to 1991 in both English and French. This includes corporate memos, meeting minutes and 'critical path' documents composed by Kodak employees throughout the process of publication, as well as annotated photocopies of draft brochures.

File consists of 13 collective bargaining agreements made between 1966 and 1997. Agreements for the years 1966 to 1974 are made between Kodak Canada and Local 159 of the International Chemical Workers' Union. Agreements for the years 1978 to 1997 are made between Kodak Canada and the Employees' Association of Kodak Canada. Kodak Canada employees were later represented by the Steelworkers' Union.

File includes 36 programs from Kodak's annual Pioneers' anniversary banquet and 2 from Kodak's annual recognition luncheon, each held to celebrate years of service for Kodak employees. File also includes 2 word processed pages of preparatory notes for presentations for Kodak employees Ron Morrison and Linda Shirley, each written in 1988, highlighting Kodak events from 25 and 40 years earlier. The first Pioneers' night was held on December 8, 1939.

File includes programs and other ephemera related to events held in honour of individual Kodak employees, such as celebrations of years of service and retirement. Honourees include E. Stanley Currie, Jim Spence, Frank Frey, Henry E. Herbert, [Wilbur E.] 'Squire' Appleyard, Bill Hales, John O. Arrowsmith, Jim Atkin, and James Cowan. Some programs contain photographs of the honourees.

File consists of draft and finalized labels for a display consisting of a naval gunsighting telescope and Mark III and IX compasses and their component parts. Includes photocopied images of the display. Mark III and IX compasses and naval gunsighting telescopes were produced by Canadian Kodak Co. during WWII.

File contains records related to the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Kodak Canada Heritage Collection, held in Building #9 of Kodak Heights on June 10, 1999. The museum opened with the exhibition Past Preserved, Future Defined, produced in partnership with Cultural Innovations: the Advisory Services of the Royal Ontario Museum. File include 33 manuscript logbooks, created between 1912 and 1960, documenting the daily production numbers of Kodak Canada's paper manufacturing department.

File consists of 6 halfbound manuscript record books recording the daily stock numbers, in grams, kilograms and feet, of various types of paper manufactured by Canadian Kodak Co. between 1906 and 1933.

File contains records created in the production and publication of promotional photographs. Documents include: image captions for photographs of individuals, products, and war-related munitions work; picture files for photographs for the 1962 annual report; correspondence with external individuals requesting usage rights; correspondence regarding the Kodak commemorative stamp photographs, product images, and Kodak Ltd.'s coronation photographs; and photography release forms. Most records in file were unfortunately divorced from their accompanying photographs at some point during their life cycle.

Most press releases pertain to Kodak products and provide tips on various forms of photography and subject matter. However, some releases pertain to events in Kodak's corporate history, such as corporate anniversaries. Eastman Kodak's Corporte Information department changed its name to Corporate Communicatons in 1979 and then to Communications and Public Affairs between 1983 and 1987.

File contains records related to marketing and communications for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Kodak Canada Inc. in 1999. File includes: centennial team strategic documents and timelines; Powerpoint presentation printouts; a presentation from Business Communication Service Ltd. related to brochure publication; correspondence with Alliance Atlantis related to broadcast advertising; centennial logos; inventories of images used in web advertising; an issue of Marketing Magazine from Dec. 1999; records related to the distribution of special edition Kodak T-550 Advantix cameras to employees; brochures; Mayor Mel Lastman's proclamation of Kodak Photo Week and Kodak Centennial Day; and other miscellaneous documents. Records likely belonged to Bonnie Chapman, who worked both in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs and as the Curator of the Kodak Heritage Collection and Museum.

Includes: an orginal and two copies of a debriefing document created after the employee celebration which took place from September 30 to October 4, 1954; a debriefing document created after a celebratory Dealers' Night held at Kodak Heights; and a copy of the Eastman commemorative issue of Rochester Commerce (vol. 41, no. 7, 1954).

File contains six photograph albums documenting the development of the Kodak Heights property and the construction of the first Kodak Heights buildings during 1913-1916. These albums are consistent in their presentation and physical characteristics, including bindings, construction, and gelatin silver prints and includes inscribed captions in the lower right corner with the title and dates.

Each album is organized by building or site with indexed tabs to indicate the building or construction project. Prints are arranged chronologically within each section, presenting a detailed progression of the building projects from start to finish. Kodak Heights buildings documented include: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 as well as site projects including reservoirs, chimney, sewage disposal, trunk sewage, tunnels, plant nursery. Highlights include a series of images of the Canadian Battalion at Kodak Heights during WWI.

Several images are printed from the glass plate negatives in the collection.

File includes correspondence, inspection reports, and technical drawings related to plant safety and risk assessment from 1913 to 1940. Correspondents include: Canadian Kodak Co., Ltd., Eastman Kodak Company, the Bureau of Explosives (Toronto), various contractors, the Mount Dennis Volunteer Fire Department, and the Associated Factory Mutual Fire Insurance Companies. This latter company performed detailed inspections for insurance purposes on Kodak Heights buildings before and during construction. Topics include: outfitting Kodak Heights with sprinkler systems, fire alarms, water supplies and oxygen masks, storage and handling of magnesium and its alloys, and storage and transport of cellulose nitrate film. File also includes a preliminary inspector's report on the fire that occurred in Building #3 of Kodak Heights on November 17, 1914.

File contains correspondence, specifications, contracts, and technical drawings from 1913 to 1914 related to the construction of an outlet sewer at Kodak Heights. Correspondents include Canadian Kodak Co., Ltd., Eastman Kodak Company, and various construction companies, including F.F. Fry, General Contractors of Toronto, who were awarded the contract.

File contains miscellaneous correspondence, specifications, orders, and contracts related to the construction, outfitting, and maintenance of Kodak Heights from 1913 to 1969. File includes correspondence and orders related to the construction and outfitting of the gelatine blending building (building #6) at Kodak Heights. Correspondents include Canadian Kodak Co., Ltd., the Detroit Cement Floor Company, the Dominion Bridge Company, and Canadian Fairbanks-Morse Co., Ltd.. Construction of building #6 began on November 6, 1929.

File contains correspondence and orders related to the construction and outfitting of the Kodak Heights employee building (building #9). Correspondents include Canadian Kodak Co., Ltd. and numerous contractors. Work on the building began on March 24, 1939 when Cedarvale Tree Experts moved trees in preparation for construction. The building was completed in 1940.

File contains records pertaining to equipment and supplies purchased to outfit Kodak Canada's Brampton facility. Includes order forms, technical drawings, and invoices for equipment such as cooling systems, doors, heaters, bathroom equipment, coat racks, and others.

File contains records related to the planning and execution of an open house and family nights held at Kodak Canada's Brampton facilities in 1973. The events celebrated the completion of the second phase of the plant with the opening of the colour print and processing building (building #34). The family nights were held on September 21 and 24, 1973; the open house was held October 18-20, 1973. File includes invitations, meeting minutes, event schedules, correspondence, posters, maps, and other ephemera.

File includes a post-event report on the official opening of the Kodak Canada Vancouver processing laboratory. The report documents the opening event, held on October 18, 1961, as well as a dealer open house, held on October 19, 1961. Report includes descriptions of the events, invitations, and programs.

File consists of manuscript photographic chemistry recipes and procedures, produced between 1921 and 1925, used in the production of Kodak products.

Anderson House in West Vancouver.

Located within the inner harbour of Vancouver, at the area known as False Creek, it functions to satisfy the needs of the average citizen with small boats (up to 40 ft.). The Marina is equipped with toilet facilities, a lounge with food vending machines, office for the manager and a caretaker suite.

Verso: "An excellent mixed-use complex of housing, shops, restaurants, theatre and hotel space which relates well to its urban setting and serves as a catalyst for the improved development of the area." Developer of the project was Confederation Life Assurance Co. of Toronto, Ontario. Designers were Norman S. Jones, MRAIC of Vancouver and James A. Murray, FRAIC of Toronto, Ontario.

The folder consists of 4 b&w photographs of Dogwood Gardens at 5850 177b Street is an 86 unit complex in the heart of Cloverdale. This complex boasts many great features for families including an outdoor pool, clubhouse, fish pond, putting green, playground, plenty of gardens and greenspace. Close to shopping, transit, restaurants, schools and parks.
Dogwood Gardens was the Canadian Housing Design Council winner of the award for Residential design in 1971. Caption on verso: "A fine example of medium density housing. The random placing of blocks around four activity areas offer unit variety and identity with special inner spaces. Although a number of different materials and forms are used this is done with great skill and there is a consistant and unified whole to the housing."

Completed in 1918, by the Canadian Government this observatory was proposed and designed by John S. Plaskett in 1910 with the support of the International Union for Cooperation in Solar Research, when the 72-inch aperture telescope was constructed, it was planned to be the largest telescope in the world but delays meant it saw first light after the Hooker 100-inch telescope.
The Centre of the Universe is the public interpretive centre for the observatory. The centre features interactive exhibits about astronomy, the work of the observatory and its parent organization, the NRC Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics. There are also tours of the telescope and programs in the planetarium and video theatre.
The folder consists of one b&w photograph of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory. On verso: "new housing for 16in. telescope operated by Dominion Astrophysical Observatory on top of Little Saanich Mountain near Victoria, B.C. is constructed of fir plywood structural assemblies. Architect was James Langford, Chief Architect with Department of Public Works, while Roger Kemble of Kemble-Webber Architects, Vancouver, was the consultant. Johnson Construction Ltd., of Victoria, were the general contractors.

Hotel Europe is a six-story heritage building located at 43 Powell Street (at Alexander) in the Gastown area of Vancouver, British Columbia. The building was commissioned by hotelier Angelo Calori and built in 1908 - 1909 by Parr and Fee Architects. Situated on a triangular lot, the building is designed in the flatiron style. It was the first reinforced concrete structure to be built in Canada and the earliest fireproof hotel in Western Canada. Contractors had to be brought in from Cincinnati, Ohio for the necessary expertise; the Ferro-Concrete Construction Company began this project six years after constructing the first tall concrete building in the world.

With funding from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the building was renovated in 1983 as affordable housing with A. Ingre and Associates as the project designers. The residential units are now managed by the Affordable Housing Society. A beer parlour formerly existed below the ground floor, which included areaways extending underneath the above sidewalks. To prevent a cave-in from the weight of pedestrians and above ground traffic, the City of Vancouver filled the areaway in with pea gravel at a cost of $215,000, which presumably can be easily removed in the event of future restoration.
The Hotel Europe was one of the filming location for the suspense movie The Changeling. In it, the building houses the Seattle Historical Society, but the hotel sign can be seen on the right side facade of the building in some takes. Some scenes are set on its spectacular roof terrace.
