Lenin: stranitsy biografii = Lenin: pages of the biography [moving image]

The film contains many photographs of V. I. Lenin at different points in his life, and it has detailed information of Lenin's life and work from childhood to his last days. The first part of the film shows significant places in Lenin's childhood in Ulyanovsk, including his family home. The film also documents locations in St. Petersburg (night panorama), Kazan city, the Kremlin, Kokushkino village, burlaks on the Volga river, Samara city, and footage of ordinary farmers working the fields. Part two opens with the poor district of St. Petersburg where Lenin moved, photographs of leading workers of the St. Petersburg revolutionary movement, and the police cell where Lenin spent 14 months before transfer to the village of Shushenskoye, where he was briefly exiled from 1897-1900. The film discusses and displays original writings of Lenin, inlcuding his published books "The Development of Capitalism in Russia", "What Is to Be Done?", and "April Theses". There is also footage of the building that housed the fist Russian revolutionary newspaper Iskra(=Spark), with photos of the agents of the newspaper: Nikolai Bauman, Ivan Babushkin, Mikhail Kalinin, Elena Stasova, Dmitri Ulyanov Maxim Litvinov, Natalya Zemlyachko, Anna Ulyanova-Elizarova, Maria Ulyanova. Part three begins with the rebellion at Potemkin and shows places where Lenin lived abroad, including Geneva and Paris, followed by images of the building in Prague where the sixth All Russian Congress took place. There are also images of the building where the 1st issue of Pravda(=Truth), the leading Soviet newspaper from 1912-1991, was published. Images of Bloody Sunday are displayed, and images of events following the first World War in 1914 include Lenin's role in revolution of 1917, the arrest of Tsar Nicolas II and the destruction of royal symbols in Russia. The film mentions an assassination attempt on Lenin's life. Facts about the transition to Soviet government are introduced, addressing the very difficult conditions in a new country together with Civil War and the first World War. Film has footage of Lenin's speech from a balcony of the Mossoviet building about the necessity of military education for Soviet people. Then the film recounts of last months of Lenin's life and his death, concluding with praise for Lenin's politics, his genius and the present Soviet supremacy.

Gorki Leninskie = Lenin's Hills [moving image]

The film recounts the life and work of V. I. Lenin from fall 1918 to January 1924 by taking the viewer through a tour of his residence, popularly known as Lenin's Hills. The film focuses on the scenery as it follows guided tours through the property, rooms and parks, including the main building and guest houses, their exterior and interior. The film also introduces the major events of Lenin's life in that period, and shows some of Lenin's personal possessions. Live footage of Lenin, his funeral and photographs, are incorporated into the production.

Zhivoy Lenin = Lenin is Alive [moving image]

The film chronicles the life of V. I. Lenin from 1918-1921, incoporating live footage and documentary photographs of Lenin on the Khodinski (or Khodynskoe) field; around the Kremlin with V. D. Bonch-Bruevich; at the opening of K. Marx and F. Engels monument in Moscow; at the funeral of Mark Elizarov, Y. Sverdlov; pronouncing a speech at the demonstration on May 1st, 1919 and at the accompanying military parade; also pronouncing a speech from a balcony of the Mossoviet building (live audio recording of Lenin's speech); and unveiling a monument to Free Trade Work and Karl Marx. Lenin also appears among delegates of the Second Congress of Commentern, and presenting a material at the Third Congress of Commentern. At the end of the third part there is a clip of Lenin with the American economist Kristiansen.

Lenin: documenty, fakty, vospominaniya = Lenin: documents, facts, recollections [moving image]

The film is constructed as a montage of documentary photographs and film clips, taken during and after V. I. Lenin's life. There is footage of the memorable places where Lenin lived and worked, as well as significant places associated with Lenin after his death, including the Mausoleum and archives of the Marxism-Leninism University. The film includes personal accounts of people close to Lenin, including Anatoly Vasilyevich Lunacharsky, Maxim Gorki, Gleb Krijanovski, sculptor Aronson, Mayakovski, John Reed, Sergey Esenin, Nadezda Krupskaya, Bertram Russell and more recollections of Lenin's colleagues. The film also briefly displays footage of Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw's visit to the USSR in the 1930s. The Brest-Litovsk agreement and the Civil War situation in Russia are mentioned. The film concludes with praise of Lenin's importance to every person in the vast Soviet Union.

Documentary Films series

Series consists of biographical films about Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924), leader of the Soviet Union and father of Communism. These films were created and produced in the Russian Soviet State and reflect the ideals of the state and the popular interpretation of Lenin's life and work. The 17 film reels make up the following 4 movies: "Lenin is alive" (1969), "Lenin: pages of the biography" (1969), "Gorki Leninskie" (1984), "Lenin documents, facts, recollections" (1969). A DVD was added to the collection in 2010 that depicts the public speeches and demonstrations taking place in Vilnius, Lithuania during the dissolution of the Lithuanian Soviet State, including the tearing down of a statue of Lenin in the city centre.

The collection was assembled between 1989 and 2003 in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Vilnius and Kaliningrad. The American Cereal Company

Item is a photomechanical reproductioon stereocard produced as a giveaway by the American Cereal Co. The cards were included in the packaging of Pettijohn's Breakfast Food cereal. The company was also giving away stere-viewers when consumers sent in a cut out from the packaging along with 50 cents.

Family children's meeting

Item consists of a photograph of a Japanese family and white guest. All are seated on ats inside or on the patio to a home. On verso, handwritten in ink, "In this house of which the whole/ family is Christian we hold a regular/ weekly children's meeting. The only/ Christian service in that village./ The older girl kneeling near me is one/ of our family here. She teaches the/ children in that home - Matsuda/ Mitsuko by name."

Item consists of a photograph of a group fo children standing on the steps and in the path in front of a wooden house, the men's dormitory in a factory compound. On verso, handwritten in pen, "A children's meeting I attend every Saturday/ afternoon in the big spinning factory/ which employs 1000 people. The/ children belong to families who live in the/ factory compound & we hold our meeting/ at their request in the recreation rooms/ of the men's dormitory. I play the baby organ./ You would think I had a cross over my head./ I don't know what it is sticking up there."

Blue and clear plastic case contains a self-timer, an adaptor, and instructions. The self-timer is metal, and has "MOD. ll" in red, and a red and ivory painted plate with the words "KOPIL, MADE IN JAPAN." The instructions are on blue vellum.

Malta, Italy, China album

Green fabric-coated album with some decorative linear gold embossing. Spine torn along edges. First and last page have a decorative leaf pattern. Notations are handwritten in black ink. Photographs are mounted in between two layers, seemingly embedded into album's pages.
Photographs are of a family traveling through Malta, Italy, Portugal and China, taken at sites such as Pompei, Mount Vesuvius, the Temple of Heaven, and Summer Palace, as well as some photographs of the railway through a mountainous countryside.
Some photographs include images of the crew and family aboard the S.S. Somali, a British passenger and cargo steam ship that travelled between England and Hong Kong, stopping at locations such as Italy and India to drop off or pick up cargo. The ship was built in 1930 and was destroyed by a bomb while being towed on March 27, 1941. The shipwreck still remains upright off the coast of the United Kingdom, on the East side of Glasgow off the shore of North Sunderland.

Assuming dates of album are between 1930-1941, based on S.S. Somali's active days, King of Italy pictured would be King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy and his Queen, Elena of Montenegro.

Purple textured cardboard cover bound with red string. Black pages, photographs mounted with glue. Tissue interleaving with spiderweb pattern.
Subject of photographs is primarily British military men riding horses and at camp in India. Some family photos are loose at the back of the album.

Singapore album

Red cover album bound by blue and white braided string. Layers of cover are separating. Black pages with photographs held in with photo corners. Handwritten notations in white ink. Interleaving is pretty brittle, torn and cracked.

Album includes photographs showing the 1955/56 military tour of duty. Photographs are of Singapore, training boats, the H.M.A.S. Tobruk, Lok Ma Chau and the October 1856 riots, camp, rugby, swimming, water polo, the railway, Hong Kong, Malaya, and ends with some photographs taken in Australia. Themes and items also include early cars, buses and military vehicles, snapshot portraits, uniforms, Rugby Cup pamphlet, activities on board H.M.A.S. Tobruk, Riot squad and October '56 riots, Christmas 1956,

Green cover with black edge and corners; spine and binding detached. Green end pages and brown pages throughout. Few handcoloured photographs; several photographs significantly yellowed.

Themes include landscapes, scenic views, snapshot portraits, carriages, coastal views, beach scenes, ships and boats, architectural photographs of popular sites, traditional or tribal dress, early car, military uniforms, weddings, horse-drawn carriages, elephant-back carriage.

Japanese accordion album

Item is an accordion album with 50 handcoloured albumen photographs. An embossed red and gold cardboard sleeve protects the cover. Red and white woven fabric cover. White accordion folded pages. Photographs mounted with glue. Tissue interleaving.

Photographs are hand-coloured and largely depict women and girls in various activities and settings, some men - possibly monks, scenic landscapes and sites of interest, agriculture and crop farming, buddha statues.

H.M.S. Superb Voyage album

Decorated blue cover with green pages. Photographs inserted into openings in pages. Handwritten notations in black ink. Some loose photographs; back indicate they were postcards.

Inside front cover: "Photographs taken from H.M.S. Superb during her voyage under sealed orders from Rosythe (Scotland) to take supreme command of the allied fleets in the Mediterranean and Near East, arrange the Armistice with Turkey and capture the German fleet in the Black Sea."

Item is a black lacquered wood cover with painted decoration. White accordion folded pages with green edges. Photographs are mounted with paste and perhaps burnished. Images hand coloured. All folds in tact; no breakage.

Transiberia album

Green cloth binding with "photos" embossed in black on the cover; number "7" stamped in blue. Grey pages with dark green border around photos. Notations in black ink. Photographs are mounted onto a card betwen two additional pieces of paper; the outside pieces of paper have windows cut to fit around the photographs.

No loose photographs however several photographs are becoming loose and peeling out of their windows. Many photographs are significantly faded and yellowing has occurred.

Locations include Scheveningen, Antwerpen, Kharbin, Kayota (Korea), Seoul, Kobe.

Themes include: street views, architecture, Transiberian railroads, landscapes and waterscapes.

Dates include September - December, 1912; 1-12 Januari, 1913; Februari, 1913.

Red cover embossed with foreign letters in gold; bound with yellow and black string. Notations in white ink and drawing on pages in yellow pencil. Black pages with thin protective paper bound between pages. Some photographs lose or partially loose.
